Zach Grant is a graduate of Indiana University Bloomington, where he studied neurobiology before shifting his attention to entrepreneurship so he could go into the family business. Because of his early exposure and his parents’ dogged focus on the company, both during the day and at the dinner table, he felt confident he could hit the ground running. His first year and a half were dedicated to studying, building and improving the Sailrite’s sewing machines. To prepare for an annual trade show, he shifted to sales, taking orders and answering customer project questions. Not long after being in sales, he discovered Sailrite’s Google Ads were being outsourced and figured he wouldn’t step on any toes taking it over. The more he understood and grew the account, the more copy and photos were needed, which gave me him a rapport with the marketing department. As time went on, he worked his way into the manager position within the marketing department.
